Is Summer a Good Time for Tutoring? Here’s what you need to know.

  1. During the summer, tutors are more available since they may not have as many teaching commitments. Their availability means you can schedule tutoring sessions more flexibly. Your child can also receive more focused attention than during the school year.

  2. Data shows summer learning loss is highest in Math and ELA. If a student is not progressing, they are regressing. A recent 2022 study shows that students who use tutoring are 30% more likely to recover from learning loss in comparison to those who did not. Whether your child is taking summer classes or needs to get ready for the SAT, tutoring can help you improve your child’s skills and grades.

  3. Summer tutoring can help your child catch up on subject areas they did not understand during the school year. If they miss a few classes during the school year, summer tutoring can help them understand the material and compensate for lost time. Think about the boost of confidence your child will have, knowing they have more clarity and preparation before next year!

  4. In this age of technology, online tutoring has proven incredibly effective. This is an excellent option for summer tutoring because you can schedule tutoring sessions around your summer plans, vacation, and activities. All you will need is a device and stable Wi-Fi.

  5. Your child will be ahead of the game. Tutors specializing in summer tutoring can help teach your child new and complex concepts for the next grade level. This way, the first time they see these topics is not along with multiple other subjects where they may not have the time and focus to understand these more advanced topics.
